A global supplier of camera and monitor systems for commercial and industrial vehicles is driving enhanced safety and operational efficiency with Videology imaging solutions. With a global footprint and engineering excellence recognized across industries, this manufacturer’s vision solutions support critical operations in construction sites, ports, logistics terminals, and other high-demand environments.
Their products are widely adopted by manufacturers of tower cranes, giant trucks, and vessels, as well as aftermarket integrators, with a growing presence in harsh-condition vehicle monitoring systems.
A global leader in heavy-duty vehicle camera-monitoring systems, delivering solutions to OEMs and through an extensive aftermarket dealer network.
Proven performance in extreme conditions such as ports, construction sites, and distribution centers.
Offers integrated camera-monitor systems tailored for operator safety, visibility enhancement, and maneuvering accuracy.
As crane operations grow in size and complexity, so too does the need for advanced visual awareness. For large cranes in particular, operators require reliable long-distance visibility solutions that can provide detailed monitoring of loads and surrounding areas and prevent blind spots.
The customer needed a robust camera solution with 30x optical zoom, long-range transmission, and EX-SDI video output to ensure seamless connection to in-cab monitors via existing coaxial cabling. Durability, precision, and low latency were non-negotiable, given the high safety demands in crane operations.
This posed a challenge: identifying a solution that could meet all these criteria while supporting global production scalability and long-term system stability.
Videology’s 24Z2.1W-30X-EXSDI Autofocus Zoom Block Camera was selected as the optimal solution. It offered the desired 30x optical zoom capability with Full HD imaging, EX-SDI output, and a ruggedized design suitable for demanding environments.
While the base hardware addressed most technical requirements, a custom firmware package and detailed blueprint documentation were developed in collaboration with the customer’s engineering team to align the camera’s performance with system-level needs.
The customer’s in-house engineering group subjected the selected camera model to extensive environmental and functional stress testing. Their findings led to highly specific firmware requests, which Videology addressed through agile development and direct engineering collaboration.
This phase was critical for optimizing image quality in varying light and motion conditions and for calibrating zoom and focus behavior to match crane operation requirements.
Following successful validation, the camera was integrated into the customer’s global production system. The Videology team ensured precise forecasting and production scheduling, enabling the customer to scale reliably and meet high-volume demands across markets.
Over the years, as certain internal components of the cameras evolved due to obsolescence or supply chain factors, all modifications were pre-discussed and co-tested. This proactive communication ensured uninterrupted integration and a zero-surprise policy throughout the supply process.
With the Videology 30x block camera in place, the customer has consistently delivered high-performance, low-latency visual systems for industrial crane applications. Key benefits include:
Seamless compatibility with legacy coaxial infrastructure
Real-time monitoring via EX-SDI with no perceptible latency
Long-term mechanical and firmware stability across high production volumes
Exceptional field reliability, demonstrated by an RMA rate approaching zero
These advantages have strengthened the customer’s value proposition in heavy equipment markets—enabling safer operations and driving worldwide deployment of their vehicle vision systems.
To this day, Videology continues to collaborate closely with this customer. The success of the integration is underpinned by short communication lines, transparent engineering support, and a shared commitment to quality. Every new iteration or component update is reviewed in advance and thoroughly tested, solidifying a relationship rooted in trust and technical excellence.
